Corporate Promo Evaluation
Evalution- Coorporate Promo-
Leigh tutoring
My brief was to create a corporate video to promote a
small tutoring business called 'Leigh Tutoring'. My contact was Keely Kingswell, owner of Leigh
tutoring. Keely made it clear she wanted the
video to show that her tutoring business was a safe, secure, happy environment
for pupils to be in. I therefore wanted to keep the tone of the promo upbeat,
whilst getting across all the important information concerning the business. I
think by jumping between the interview with Keely and interviews with pupils
does this. On top of the interviews I used footage throughout of the children
in the class; laughing, being serious whilst working, and vocalising their
ideas.
Me and my client were constantly in contact throughout
the process, using various means of communication. Meetings, emails, phone calls ect. There was no confusion
on the dates and time meetings would be held, and we pre-arranged dates which
were best suited for filming. The only constraint with filming was seeking
permission to film the children in their working environment. But once I had
it, I was free to collect all the footage I needed to create the video. I had
various interviews with the kids and chose to select the few which were most
confident with their answers. I collected more interviews than I needed to make
sure in the editing process I would have plenty of material to work with.
I was very happy with the answers
I got from the children during their interviews, as it could be cut in well
with the points Keely was making. For example one of the kids talked about how
he loved taking out books from tutoring, which was something Keely covered in
her interview.
I would want to improve on the
setup of the interview room with Keely, as I think it could have looked a lot
better and more professional. This became more apparent in the editing process
with it compared to the setup of the kids interviews.

Genre
'Genre is a barrier to creativity and a straight-jacket to prevent experimentation.'
or
'Genre is an endlessly flexible tool for artists to connect with the audience most likely to enjoy their work.'
Genre categorises films, separated by what emotions they make the audience feel, techniques used in them, and storylines.
A world without genre, a world where the audience have less control over the movie they are about to watch. If a film exceeds the expectations of a genre, half of its potential audience have already ruled it out due to a predetermined opinion on films that fall within it. So what would happen if genre didn't exist?
Is structuralism in genre actually what makes them great, and do we take comfort in having a level of predictably over them.

Genre theory is exploring each individual genre and how they adapt over time. Analysing specific genres and how they overlap with others and become sub-genres.
Structuralism is every detail being used throughout films, something to make the audience feel an emotion, for example placing knives in the background of a shot to make the viewer feel uneasy.

Psychoanalytic theory in film - Case study
Psychoanalytic theory originally was the idea that the brain can be separated into four sectors, each with conflicting roles. The conscious, unconscious, ID and the ego. The conscious follows the 'norm' considering societies views it represses the urge to act out of the acceptable. The unconscious holds our unspoken and unaware to even ourselves fear, wants, and desires. Some not logical, or considered 'right' it only becomes active in our dreams. The ID acts as your instinctive, and is the part of you which seeks gratification. Your ego works with both your concious and unconcious, it is the balanced part of your brain. Seperating real and unrealistic and right from wrong. When this applying this theory to film it challenges how much we can compare films to our, or, the directors unconsious mind. Are films shaped by the unconscious, like analouges to dreams? Or is it dependant to the individuals perception. Does the audiences unconscious identify with the characters, creating an unexplainable feeling toward them, whether it be, fear or fixation. And was this a conscious decision from the director to that group of audience?
3D Camera Projection
This is made up of 4 layers, I first put them into a composition placing them in the fight order so that the sky was in the far background, then the sand, then the pyramids, then the wall. I selected the grey cube icon to make the elements 3D, chose viewpoint and selected top. The top layer appeared like lines, as the layers are 2d and flat. I changed the position of the layers to bring them back, the sky i changes to 800, the sand 600, and pyramids 400. When I went back to active camera the layers appears as small boxes so I changes the scaled up making them fill out the frame again. I then selected layer- new- camera and changed the point of interest as the back layer, and used the apeture to create the back layer to blur, so the front layer is the only in focus. I then created keyframes in position to make it look like the camera was coming over the wall.
